Predicting chemical emissions from household cleaning and personal care products: A review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Chemicals in household cleaning and personal care products (HCPs PCPs) can be released into the indoor air primarily during after product use, leading to human exposures these chemicals via inhalation dermal contact. Thus, HCPs PCPs are a group of important intermittent sources, contributing chemical emissions environment. To characterize more accurately, we reviewed three types emission models from 18 studies for PCPs, i.e., based on evaporation, convective mass transfer, diffusion. While present different levels complexity, they cover variety application scenarios. We also summarized some input parameters models, frequency quantity use chemical's evaporation rate diffusion coefficient. The many products, including shampoo, hand soap deodorant show consistency among studies. Our review model inputs reveals promising basis further improvement PCPs.

متن کاملHousehold chemicals and personal care products as sources for xenobiotic organic compounds in grey wastewater
Despite contributing 75% of the total wastewater flow to domestic sewers, little is currently known concerning the detailed production patterns and characteristics of grey wastewater. In this study, an inventory of the consumption of household chemicals including a diary survey of water-consuming activities was carried out over seven consecutive days in a block of flats. In total 290 parameters...
متن کاملAnaerobic Treatment of Wastewater from the Household and Personal Products Industry in a Hybrid Bioreactor
The anaerobic treatment of wastewater from the household and personal products industry was studied using a 16.3 L hybrid reactor (UASB and biofilter). The top of the UASB reactor was filled with coconut shells to act as the support material for the biofilter. The wastewater was characterized in terms of pH (1.0 – 12.0), COD (1,000 – 5,000 mg/L), BOD5 (700 – 1,500 mg/L), chloride (55 – 850 mg/L...
